Medellín le apuesta a la vida. La ciudad trabaja para brindar posibilidades de esperanza a todos sus habitantes. Una ciudad dinámica y segura le abre las puertas al turismo, a la inversión privada y a los proyectos productivos.

Gracias al fortalecimiento de su imagen positiva ante el mundo, Medellín se ha consolidado como centro de importantes eventos. Es así como ha pasado de ser sede de tres ferias internacionales en el año 2004 a catorce en el año 2007. En el año 2010, la ciudad será anfitriona de los juegos de la Organización Deportiva Suramericana (ODESUR).

En Medellín tienen domicilio 1.632 empresas que exportaron 1.828 millones de dólares en 2006.

• Medellín y la región participan con 25% de las exportaciones no tradicionales del país.

• La ciudad cuenta con una cobertura de servicios públicos de alta calidad y bajo costo, mano de obra abundante y calificada, actividades de investigación vinculadas al sistema productivo, excelente infraestructura financiera y modernos enclaves urbanísticos dedicados al comercio.

• Es el segundo centro industrial de Colombia. La producción textil es la actividad emblemática de Antioquia, y genera el 53% del empleo industrial en la región. La industria de textiles y confecciones exporta hoy sus productos a los mercados internacionales.

• Cuenta con dos aeropuertos, dos terminales de transporte terrestre intermunicipal, el único metro del país y el novedoso metrocable, sistema de cable aéreo tipo teleférico conectado al metro, que diariamente moviliza 30.000 pasajeros.

• En cuanto a infraestructura para eventos, Medellín ofrece lugares como la Plaza Mayor, en la cual se integran el Palacio de Exposiciones y el Centro de Convenciones, con capacidad para tres mil personas.

Medellin has made a bet on life. The city is working to provide the possibilities of hope to all of its inhabitants. A dynamic and safe city it opens its doors to tourism, private investment and productive projects.

Thanks to the strengthening of a positive image of Medellin in the world, it has gained a solid reputation as a center for important events. Thus it has grown from the seat of three international fairs in 2004 to fourteen in the year 2007. In the year 2010 the city will host the games of the South American Sports Organization (ODESUR).

• It has two airports, two intermunicipal land transportation terminals, the only metro in the country and a novel metrocable, a hanging car type cable system that mobilizes 30,000 passengers daily.

• With respect to infrastructure for events, Medellin offers sites such as the Plaza Mayor, which holds both the Exhibition Palace and the Convention Center, with a capacity for three thousand people.
